If you are in need of a Stephen Minister or know of someone, please call the church office at (215) 357-4791 .
Healing Services
If there is a fifth Sunday in a given month, instead of serving Holy Communion, our pastor and lay leaders offer a laying on of hands to any who wish to receive. There is time to approach the altar rail, share health concerns of your own or for a family member, and receive prayer directly addressing those concerns.
Lay Eucharistic Ministry
What do Lay Eucharistic Ministers do? They are trained to bring Holy Communion to our home-bound members. If you're interested in becoming a Lay Eucharistic minister, please contact Pastor Brown. No exhaustive course of study is needed; all that is required is a willingness to serve others.
If you are unable to come to church and would like to receive Holy Communion, please call the church office at (215) 357-4791 or send an email to Pastor Hopgood.
Prayer Ministry
The Prayer Chain receives prayer requests weekly, offering to pray for and uphold church members hospitalized, bereaved, or any person in physical, mental, spiritual, or emotional need. As Martin Luther said, “All who call on God in true faith, earnestly from the heart, will certainly be heard, and will receive what they have asked and desired”.
If either you or someone you know is in need of prayer, complete one of the Prayer Cards during worship, call or email the church office.
Do you feel God calling you to pray for others? If so, Prayer Ministry needs you! As of today, we have so many prayer requests that our team can only meet our needs with great difficulty. So, if you’re willing to make the prayer commitment, please email Judy Smith.
Ministry in Motion
This ministry provides transportation to our disabled or elderly members who cannot drive. We provide rides to church, doctor visits, the pharmacy, etc. on an occasional basis to our friends who cannot drive right now.
If you can help drive someone in need, please call the church office.
Celiac Support Group
The Bucks County gluten free support group's mission is to come together to support the celiac and gluten intolerance community while raising awareness of this lifestyle through a variety of games, crafts, and discussions. We are also affiliated with the Gluten Intolerance Group of America. Please contact generationGF.BucksCounty@gluten.org for more information! All ages are welcome!
Military Connection Committee
Reaching out to those in military service
Please keep those serving in the Armed Forces in your prayers. If you know of any members, friends, or relatives from Good Shepherd who are currently serving in the military and would like to be included OR if you would like to join our efforts to reach out to those serving, please contact Wayne Goerlich.
If anyone who has a family member or friend in the service that has changed their status, please notify the church office so that we can update their status.
Giving Tree
Our Giving Tree stands ready to help! During this time of crisis, THE GIVING TREE is poised to help. If anyone in the congregation is in need of food or assistance at this time or if you know of a member in need, please contact Pastor Brown.
Many of us are very private people and we are taught to keep things to ourselves, especially when in need. Contrary to "suffering in silence", Good Shepherd believes that caring for each other is where it all begins. The Giving Tree provides a confidential means by which our congregation can come to the assistance of members who are in need. The Giving Tree is located in the narthex. As a need arises, our pastor places a "special leaf” on the tree. Members freely respond with help as each need arises. More specifically, our Tree works like this: If you know of a member in need -- need no matter how small or large you think it may be -- please contact Pastor Brown who will place a leaf on our tree, If you are able to assist in any way with a need, please take the leaf, complete the need, and return the need to the church office with the leaf attached. If you would like to donate to the Giving Tree Fund, please use a church envelope and write “Giving Tree” on it, and return it to the church office where it will go directly towards fulfilling the needs of someone in our own congregation. Currently, we have no new requests. But, if you're either in need or know of a Good Shepherd family in need, please contact Pastor Hopgood. Let us use this as a means of reaching out to those in need!
Meals For Each Other
Meals for Each Other is a service provided BY Good Shepherd volunteers FOR Good Shepherd members in need.
The service uses an online tool to facilitate the delivery of meals to members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church who have been recently ill, hospitalized, etc.
