Welcome
ALL ARE WELCOME. NO EXCEPTIONS.
We are so glad that you are considering visiting us at Good Shepherd! You might be looking for a church where you will belong. Maybe you want to raise your children with the help of a loving extended family. Maybe you want to connect with others and serve the local community. Maybe you want to learn more about Jesus’ teachings and grow in his love. Maybe you want to pray and worship God with others through scripture, sermons, and song. Maybe you heard someone say that Jesus filled the hole in their heart that nothing else could, and you’re curious to know more. At Good Shepherd, we pray for you, support you, encourage you, member or not.
We are excited to meet you,
If you want to sit quietly in the back and observe, that’s ok!
If you want to jump in and join the choir, two committees, the soup kitchen serving team, and be a worship leader, that’s ok!
If you bring your kids and they make some noise, that’s ok! (Honestly, this is better than ok. Our congregation adores having young children in the service.
If you want to join worship every Sunday, that’s ok!
If you want to join worship twice a year, that’s ok!
If you’re not sure you completely agree with Lutheran teachings, that’s ok!
If you don’t know what the Lutheran teachings are, that’s ok!
Jesus loved and accepted everyone. Loving and accepting everyone is our mission, too. We would love the chance to welcome you as you are. In return, we ask that you consider us as we are. We believe the church is not the building but the people. We are imperfect people eager to meet, learn about, and love other imperfect people. Hope to see you soon.
FAQ
What should I expect from the service?
Good Shepherd incorporates Bible readings, hymns, contemporary Christian songs, traditional liturgy, prayers, messages from our pastors, and a wide variety of music from our Adult, Youth, Junior, Cherub, and Handbell choirs into our services. Robert Prester, our organist, is also an accomplished jazz pianist and often shares special music. Each worship service is approximately one hour. Children are welcome in worship, and we’ll provide special worship activities for them. If you choose to leave the Sanctuary with your children, the service is streamed live to our library – and there are some extra toys in there, too! For any service, please arrive ten minutes ahead to give yourself time to park and find the seat you’d like best. The ushers will greet you as you enter and offer you a bulletin which functions as a ‘script’ to our service.

What if I have questions?
When you’re here for worship, stop by the welcome table after the service, or ask either pastor as you are leaving. You can also call or come into the office during the week. Another great way to have your questions answered is to go to coffee hour after the service. Anyone there will be more than happy to answer your questions. We can’t wait to meet you!
